Basavanna M, an 18-year-old with a low vision disability, grew up in the small village of Thalavadi in Tamil Nadu. His father, Mahadeva Shetty, struggled to provide for their poor family. Life was difficult, but hope came when they discovered the PANKH program through social media. Though Basavanna was a slow learner, he persevered through the training. After completing it, he secured a job at Devanahalli International Airport as a houseman, earning Rs. 11,800/- per month. Maruti Fakkirappa Vadder, 23, from Haveri, faced many challenges due to societal stigma. His father is a farmer, and his mother works in the fields. With two siblings in a hostel, Maruti struggled to find his path. A friend told him about the PANKH program, where he could receive free training and accommodation. Despite initial difficulties adjusting to the work hours, Maruti excelled during the training. He now works at Devanahalli International Airport as a houseman, earning Rs. 11,800/- per month. Born on 21-02-1998 in the remote village of Kudugarahalli, Sakaleshpura, Baby grew up in a poor farming family, struggling with a locomotor disability. Despite the challenges, she completed her SSLC with the support of her father and friends. Life was tough, but hope came when a friend told her about Abhivruddhi Foundation. With great determination, Baby joined and completed her training. After attending several interviews, she secured a job as a housekeeper at Devanahalli International Airport, earning Rs. 11,800/- per month. Now, Baby is filled with happiness and gratitude towards Abhivruddhi Foundation and the PANKH team for changing her life.

Saraswathi, born and raised in Chintamani Taluk, Chikkaballapur, has lived with low vision since birth. Despite her disability, she excelled in singing and managed to pass her SSLC exams with the help of others. However, her dreams were halted when she couldn’t pursue further education and faced multiple job rejections. Desperate for a chance, she learned about Abhivruddhi Foundation through an alumna. Though initially struggling with communication, Saraswathi’s determination shone through. Now employed at CARE Company with a good salary, her HR praises her potential and improvement. Saraswathi is grateful for the support that transformed her life.

Shrinivas Hospet, born and raised in Gadag, carries the weight of a 60% locomotor disability. His father, a farmer, couldn’t afford his education, so Shrinivas left school after passing his SSLC and moved to Bangalore in search of a better life. With no place to stay, he spent two nights at a friend’s house. Through Facebook, he discovered Abhivruddhi Foundation. Though shy and unsure of himself, Shrinivas showed a deep interest in learning. His determination paid off when he was selected by Weavings Manpower Solutions (Amazon), impressed by his impeccable dressing sense. Now, Shrinivas proudly works 9-hour shifts, inspiring others with his resilience.

Y Nagarathna, from Bellary, grew up in poverty and was the first in her family to receive an education. After completing her SSLC, her family couldn’t support further schooling, leaving her at home for 3-4 years. During this time, she learned tailoring, but it wasn’t enough to sustain her family. Desperate for a stable job, she was referred to Abhivruddhi Foundation’s training program. Initially, Nagarathna felt insecure about joining as a young woman, but counseling reassured her, and she convinced her parents. After completing the training, she secured a job at Drougher’s Hub Supermarket, Devanahalli. Nagarathna is deeply grateful to the team for transforming her life.

Shivanand Damanal, born with a locomotor disability in Bijapur District, faced immense challenges throughout his life. Though he completed his SSLC, he was forced to leave college due to relentless teasing from peers. Disheartened, he spent years working in agriculture, but his worries about the future grew. Seeking a better life, he moved to Bangalore, where a VRW in his village recommended the ITC program at Abhivruddhi Foundation. Initially hesitant to stay for the 30-day training, Shivanand almost gave up. But with support from the foundation and his parents, he completed the program and secured a job at MGS, Bangalore International Airport. Today, Shivanand is proud and happy to have found his place.

Swamy Gowda, a 23-year-old with a locomotor disability, was born with a shorter stature but a remarkable singing voice. Despite his talents, life wasn’t easy. After completing his SSLC, he devoted himself to social work in his village but found himself isolated when he needed help most. Even his family, including his married siblings, couldn’t support him. Feeling alone and disheartened, Swamy began searching for a job. A friend introduced him to Abhivruddhi Foundation’s training program. Though reluctant at first, counseling encouraged him to attend. Swamy thrived during training and now works happily at Mitti Coffee, Bangalore International Airport, grateful for the new chapter in his life.
